Address Communication Barriers with Human Design

Communication barriers are inevitable because we’re all navigating life with different maps based on our unique and individual designs. While, during a conversation, we may be standing in the same destination, it likely doesn’t look the same and we took different routes to get there.

Thankfully there are five key places to look in a client’s Design so you can understand and coach to help optimize his/her/their unique communication style.

1️⃣ Type: The ‘category’ a client falls into is the very first place to start. There are 4: Manifestors, Generators (includes Manifesting Generators), Projectors, and Reflectors. Each Type is here to serve a different role and purpose, so it only stands to reason they would receive and process information differently.

2️⃣ Strategy: Each Type has a specific strategy, i.e. way to approach life. Manifestors inform and initiate. Generators wait for an external stimulus to respond to. Projectors wait for formal invitations. Reflectors move through their own cycles to inform the rest of us  about what’s going on in the environment. With those strategies come innate methods of communication that invariably differ by Type.

3️⃣ Authority: A client’s authority is how he/she/they make decisions. A huge chunk of effective communication isn’t just about how or what’s said, but the time in which it’s shared. Authority provides a guidance system for a client’s timing of communication. There are 7 different authorities that are influenced by 4 Types and Strategies. Even if you can’t do the math (like me), you can see there are A LOT of combinations.

4️⃣ Circuitry: In the world of Human Design, energy is organized into 3 main circuits (i.e. flow of energy) - Individual, Collective, Tribal - some combination of which exists in all humans. Your client’s unique mix will give huge insights into their natural communication style. Aspects they may or may not have conscious access to, which only continues to complicate matters. 🤪

5️⃣ Not Self: Who your client thinks they should be and/or how they’re working against their true nature often brings the greatest awareness of their most challenging communication barriers.

While nothing will ever be perfect (we’re all human after all), knowing and applying these five essential key pieces of information will open up a whole new world of communicating more effectively for you and/or your clients.
