What To Do When Your Design Feels Flawed

Once you have accepted your flaws no one can use them against you.
— Allison Sue Elliot

Whether you’ve been in the Human Design world for a while or not, you’ve likely noticed that a lot of what’s shared is empowering and focuses on the highlights of your Design, which is AWESOME! Who doesn’t want to be uplifted to the point you feel like they can run through a brick wall because of the gifts you’ve been given in this life?!

While incredibly amazing, it’s not the full picture. Real talk for a hot sec: Learning your Human Design and making the choice to experiment with it can be daunting. It’s inevitable you’ll find a part of your Design suffocating and it will absolutely suck until you truly understand it and see how it works for you. This is why it’s so imperative to experiment with your own Design before and while you incorporate it into your client work.

Real Life Example

I have an incredibly powerful mind. It can make connections and see how things can progress in the future like NO ONE’S business, but very little, if any, of that is really for me.

I have a split definition. My Mind and Throat are connected, as are my Spleen (intuition), Sacral (available energy), and Root (physical pressure to get things done), but they’re not connected. They’re two separate entities. I can express what I think, but I have no innate access to my own energy to put those thoughts into action.

My Mind is really good at saying, “Oh you could do x, y, and z and it will lead to a, b, c…” after I’ve positively responded to something that was brought to me.

But that’s not how it works. I’m designed to respond to things over and over and over vs. initiate potential ideas off the first response. Imagine my frustration, as a “high-energy go-getter”, when I learned that I don’t always have the energy I need to run after what I *think* I want or what I *think* could work.

F**k. My. Life 🤪😆

The first time I heard that it felt like an inherent flaw in my Design. Absolutely maddening!

But here’s the thing, that part of my Design is much less maddening than ALL the times I’ve tried to jump on ideas after an initial yes only to quit or flake out because I didn’t really want to do the thing I thought could work.

My Design isn’t flawed. It’s a failsafe. It’s a part of my journey to accept it and learn to keep trusting it. And now I’m equipped to keep others from using it against me, or more importantly, using it against myself.

Take Action

If you’re ready to dive into your chart, schedule some time here! We can chat about introducing you to your design OR discussing what part of your Design felt like a kick to the gut when you first learned it and turned out to be a failsafe/blessing in disguise.

That’s performance, reimagined.
